Astrid lay on a bed of the softest silks, spun from glistening silver moths that inhabited the realm just beneath Haven, where all wild creatures unseen on earth spent their immortal days. Her cheek was pillowed by plush down and her body was buoyed by a mattress so light and springy that it was as if she slept on the air itself.
Beside her, Pax stirred. She turned eagerly towards him, unable to explain her sudden anxiety, and the strange sense that she would see some other face in his place.
Astrid leaned over the waking form. It was Pax. Paxâs rugged face, too angular for beauty, his mop of chestnut-brown hair, his long, perfect body.
âPax?â
His name became a question on her lips, her anxiety returning briefly until he opened his eyes. They were a deep forest green, dazzling in the morning light.
âPax!â
She fell into his arms, feeling them band like steel around her. Beneath her, he was warm and hard and exciting. Excited, too. Between his rocky thighs she could feel the definite stirrings of his cock.
Astrid practically sobbed as she slid down his body, her naked breasts trailing against the hardness of his chest, her nipples lightly abraded by his dark tangle of chest hair. It felt like forever since sheâd touched him like this and she couldnât get enough, stroking him everywhere as if to make sure each part was still there. His rigid arms, warm flat stomach and wide shoulders, all received her gentle caress, as her lips rained kisses over his chest, focusing on the blunt masculine nipples.
The brown nubs were soft at first but clenched beneath her manipulations, as she pinched them with her fingers , bringing them to attention before she placed her on them. First a little rolling lick, all along the hardening perimeter, before she sucked the entire protuberance into her mouth, roughing it with her tongue and taking it tenderly between her teeth.
Pax moaned low in his throat, a growl unlike any other sheâd heard from him, but as she was lost in pleasure, she didnât lift her head.
Again, she teased his nipples, her fingernails etching lines into his chest, making him jerk and strain against her, winding his hands through her hair until it was swathed thickly around him, binding them together.
Unable to resist any longer, Astrid surged upwards to meet his mouth hungrily, their tongues swirling together, playing with each other, exploring. This mouth she knew so well was somehow exciting, as if it were the first time they had kissed and she was nothing but a novice Power. With grunts and groans, he urged her on, the kiss widening and deepening into a long sensuous journey of discovery. Everything she knew of him was new again. His lips felt hotter and harder beneath her own, his tongue longer yet less agile. She explored his teeth and they felt curved, almost fanged. But her doubts were gone. Even in her foggy state, halfway between wakefulness and sleep, she knew him.
